Good day to you. Art has always been a passion of mine likely long before I could even hold a pen. My buddy and I used to sit around in Kindergarten making comics about space aliens while everyone else was on the playground yelling, “by the power of GREYSKULL!!” Then there are the fond memories of pre-pubescence and awkward adolescence learning artistic ‘technique’ from overly busty Marvel and Homage swimsuit ‘models.’ I’ve been working with pen & ink for as long as I can remember and I’ve wanted to be an inker since the time I opened my first comic. I took every art class I could through all my grade-school days. I even went to the uber-famous Ringling School of Art and Design. Though, as the late nineties slump in comics hit, inking all but faded on my list of career choices. After getting my degree in Illustration, I went on to become a well established graphic artist for several local screenprinters, doing more digital graphic design than traditional drawing. While I enjoy working on the computer all day, I began to miss the feel of pen and paper. Right around this time Devil’s Due and Dreamwave renewed my interest in graphic narrative and I once again became a Wednesday regular at my long abandoned local comic shop. Yet still, inking professionally was just a faded childhood memory. Almost like it was fated to happen, I befriended Tony Maligno, by and large the most creative genius I have and likely will ever know. Between Halo matches we bantered back and forth about the modern history of comics and all things nerdy in our lives until we realized we could do some comics ourselves. Suddenly we were elbow to elbow in his hot cramped apartment, him penciling and me inking, until we had a five page samurai chop-em-up short. BEHOLD! My career in inking had begun. From there, I answered several ads on digitalwebbing.com. Some went well, some did not, but I was inking and having a great time all the same. Dusk, by David Doub, was my first full issue published work in 2005. Then in early 2007, I began working with the great guys and gals at Hardway Studios. I am living proof that you are never too old to chase down your dreams. It’s a long road, but it’s been worth every step. I live in sunny Florida with my beautiful wife and 4 wonderful children. Top 5 comics I’m reading: 1: Walking Dead 2: Ex Machina 3: Invincible 4: Conan 5: New Avengers
